Bolt pattern, center bore & hub rings

Bolt pattern and center bore decide whether a wheel fits the hub at all. There is no tolerance – it either fits or it does not.

Bolt pattern (PCD)

5×112 means five wheel bolts on a circle of 112 mm diameter. Count and diameter must match exactly – 5×112 and 5×114.3 look similar but are not compatible.

Center bore and centering

The wheel is centred on the hub spigot, not by the bolts. Aftermarket wheels often have a larger center bore to fit many cars. The gap is closed with a hub centric ring.

  • Center bore = hub → no ring needed.
  • Center bore larger → ring “wheel/hub”, e.g. 72.6 → 57.1.
  • Center bore smaller → wheel does not fit (only machining by a specialist with approval).
